Dereck A. Wischmeyer is a civil litigator with a focus on construction law. He has represented clients in all aspects of construction law and is working towards Board Certification by the Florida Bar.
Dereck graduated at the top of his class from the University Of Miami School Of Law with LL.M. in Real Estate Development where he focused on construction and the representation of condominium associations. Dereck obtained his Juris Doctorate with recognition from The University of Dayton School of Law. While earning his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management at Duquesne University, Dereck was a member of the Dean's List, an academic all-American and captain of the school's NCAA Division I men's swim team.
Dereck represents a range of clients in all areas of construction litigation as well as contract and risk management relating to the construction of a variety of projects from concept through construction as well as through dispute resolution. Dereck routinely advises contractors, specialty contractors, construction managers, material suppliers, developers and design professionals in construction contract preparation, construction loans, litigation, mediation, mechanics lien remedies, construction defect litigation and construction claims arising from delay and surety / performance bonds. Dereck counsels his clients on ways to avoid unnecessary litigation through thoughtful negotiations and effective contracts.
Prior to joining the Buckley Law Group, Dereck represented insurance carriers in connection with subrogated construction defect claims as well as construction professionals throughout Florida, including the Florida Keys. Following graduation from law school, he worked as an Assistant State Attorney, a position which provided valuable trial experience.

Dereck is licensed to practice in the States of Florida, New York and Michigan. He also maintains admissions before the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. Additionally, Dereck maintains membership in various professional organizations, including the American Bar Association and the St. Petersburg Bar Association.
